ASUU Strike Over; What Next?

The Incessant strike by the academic staff union of universities (ASUU) in Nigeria as worsened the state of tertiary education in the country. The recent strike which started with a one month warning strike on February 14, 2022 and ended October 14, 2022 is the longest ASUU strike in the country history. The major reason behind the strike was the lecturers cry for revitalization of public universities. Now, the strike is over. Therefore, students are expected to resume immediately. Many of these students have been into different things other than academics-during the strike, but will be forced to take tests and exams ASAP because the school have to gain back months lost as a result of the strike. This is an inevitable fate of most students resuming back to school in Nigeria. Here are some tips that may help you get back on track quickly enough before the quaking tests and exams. 

Time to get acquainted with online optometry journals

Yeah, search for optometry journals like optometry review and other optometry/ophthalmology journals you could get online. This will help you acclimatize to basic terms, ocular conditions and other vital things the strike may have eroded off your memory.   

Time to visit the Library

In the library you will find arrays of optometry textbooks you could scan through to get your stuffs back into your head. As funny as it may sound, you will need a conscious effort to bring back whatever memories that may have lag. 

Time to get a discussion partner/study group

There is no denying that the copious amount of information you are required to absorb and memorize is greater this time, also looking at the little amount of time available. However, studying with a partner or with a group is one of the most effective learning techniques that can help you learn intricate and confusing optics also making it more engaging to learn the rigorous course materials. 

Time to scan through your old journals/notes

If you are one who keeps old notes, good for ya! It will do you much good scanning through your old notes to get back whatever you have learnt from the rare of your memory to the fore front. 

Time to enjoy a brief semester/session

Of course, the semester will be short because of the time lost due to the strike. So count it all joy if you are in you sixth year because your oath-taking-day might just be few months away.
